8×10 B&W satin finish photograph signed “To Clinton Charlie Watts 08″ in black felt tip ink. A super minor ding on the right portion, otherwise, excellent. Originally trained as a graphic artist, Watts developed an interest in jazz at a young age and joined the band Blues Incorporated. He also started playing drums in London’s rhythm and blues clubs, where he met future bandmates Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. In January 1963, he left Blues Incorporated and joined the Rolling Stones as drummer, while doubling as designer of their record sleeves and tour stages. Watts’s first public appearance as a permanent member was in February 1963; he remained with the band for 58 years until his death, at which time he, Jagger, and Richards were the only members of the band to have performed on every one of their studio albums. Nicknamed “the Wembley Whammer” by Jagger, Watts cited jazz as a major influence on his drumming style. Aside from his career with the Rolling Stones, Watts toured with his own group, the Charlie Watts Quintet, and appeared in London at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club with the Charlie Watts Tentet. In 1989, Watts was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Rolling Stones, and in 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame, also with the Rolling Stones. Always please ask if you are not sure. For sale is an original set of all 5 of the original Rolling Stones autographs signed on TWO sheets of an autograph book from 1964. All five signatures of the group are 100% original. There are two sheets/pages from an autograph album. Bill Wyman and Brian Jones have signed together on one side and on the other side of the page Mick Jagger has signed with a Happy Birthday greeting on the other. Charlie Watts has signed on one page and Keith Richards has signed on the other side of that page. Both pages have had sticky tape residue round the edges of the paper. In order to show all five autographs off nicely in a presentation frame I have used a two sided glass frame, included in the sale. The rare vintage 7 inch by 9 inch photograph is an original Radio Times marketing print from the 1960s. These are 100% genuine original signatures signed in the 1960s by all five of the original band members and particularly wonderful to have an original one of Brian Jones before his very sad death in 1969. I’m certain that these would pass any professional Autograph Verification Process although this is something I have never felt the need to acquire as they were for my personal collection and I was 100% confident that they were legitimate. The autograph book pages measure little over 12 cm x 8.5 cm (wd x ht). The photograph measures 7×9 inches. The frame measures approximately 10.5 inches x 12.5 inches (27cm x 32.5) and is in mint condition. A wonderful and incredible gift for any Rolling Stones fans out there. The inscription says To America, Thank You, (His typical Charlie Boy signature) and the Year, 21. Here’s what I have and acquired the Signature. Photos of his room full of Rolling Stones memorabilia. In conversation with him, he said he took many trips to London and bought collectibles from Stones collectors there. That said, when I received the pennant, this autographed photo was included inside. At that point in time, Charlie was still alive and well. So that’s my provenance of this autograph. What I can tell you is, the signature is writing with an ink that “shines” on the B/W glossy photo. You can compare the alphabetic letter’s in the Note to the alphabetic letter’s in the “America” signature and see they are exact. And as I said, when the photo is held at an angle to light, the ink shines on the paper (SEE PHOTO #5). Very nice Charlie Watts autograph and collectible. Please ask if any questions. A very rare opportunity to own a matt finish 10×8 inches photo hand signed by the late drummer Charlie Watts. Charlie Watts was the drummer of the Rolling Stones from 1963 until his death in 2021. In mid-1962, Watts first met Brian Jones, Ian “Stu” Stewart, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who also frequented the London rhythm and blues clubs, but it was not until January 1963 that Watts finally agreed to join the Rolling Stones. Initially, the band could not afford to pay Watts, who had been earning a regular salary from his gigs. His first public appearance as a permanent member was at the Ealing Jazz Club on 2 February 1963. Watts was often introduced as “The Wembley Whammer” by Jagger during live concerts. In 1989, Watts was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Rolling Stones, and in 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame, also with the Rolling Stones. He is often regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time! Great piece signed by the legendary drummer from one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time!
