Sir Michael Philip Jagger, known as Mick Jagger, is an English singer, songwriter, actor and producer who first gained fame as the lead singer of the legendary rock band, the Rolling Stones. In July 1962, the band first performed together under the name Rollin’ Stones (changed quickly to the Rolling Stones thereafter). By 1963, the band was starting to garner popularity and in 1965, Jagger and band mate Keith Richards wrote “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” which became their first international hit. The band continued their success with several other hits over the years including “Gimme Shelter, ” “Sympathy for the Devil, ” “Paint it Black, ” “Start Me Up” and “Beast of Burden” among many others. Jagger has continued to tour and perform with the group over the past six decades and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 with the rest of his band.
