ROLLING STONES -FULL BAND SIGNED Ltd. Edition Lithograph IT'S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL
An extremely rare lithograph of Guy Peelaert’s iconic album cover for the Rolling Stones. It’s Only Rock and Roll. Hand signed in pencil by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, and Mick Taylor. This example is numbered 17/75. This Stones lineup produced some of the Stones most acclaimed albums, including. Exile on Main Street. Autographs of this Stones lineup are the most difficult to obtain, as Mick Taylor was only in the group for five years. This gorgeous limited-edition lithograph is printed in metallic gold ink on textured fine art paper. Hot Stuff: The Story of the Rolling Stones. By Stones uber-collector Matt Lee, these lithographs were printed in four colors, red, purple, gold and silver, and I believe these lithographs to be the first officially signed items ever produced by the band. Extensive online research and polling of collectors has turned up fewer than 10 examples of this exceptionally rare print, with the highest one numbered 22/75. Lee thinks this was almost certainly made for promotional purposes, and the edition was unfinished when, for whatever reason, the full group failed to sign all of the copies. Was Mick Taylor’s final album with the Stones; it was released in October 1974, and he quit the group just two months later, frustrated at not receiving songwriting credits he thought he deserved, and having developed a drug dependence. The Rolling Stones were due to start recording a new album in Munich, and the entire band was reportedly angry at Taylor for leaving at such short notice. It’s quite likely Taylor’s abrupt departure is the reason the edition was never completed. Lee notes there have subsequently been a number of Stones signed projects that were never signed by all of the members. Easily one of the rarest Rolling Stones collectibles. 24 1/2″ x 25″. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity. Recordmecca’s clients include the Smithsonian Institution, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Museum of Pop Culture (formerly Experience Music Project,) the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold was named by Rolling Stone as one of 5 Top Collectors of High-End Music Memorabilia. He authenticated previously unknown Bob Dylan manuscripts for PBS’s History Detectives, appeared as a featured appraiser on VH1’s Rock Collectors, and has been profiled as a top dealer and collector in the books Vinyl Junkies and Retromania: Pop Culture’s Addiction to it’s Own Past. Gold is author of the acclaimed books Sittin’ In: Jazz Clubs of the 1940s and 1950s; Total Chaos: The Story of The Stooges/As Told By Iggy Pop; and 101 Essential Rock Records: The Golden Age of Vinyl a survey of seminal rock albums, featuring contributions from David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Johnny Marr and Graham Nash.
