OTIS REDDING Bill Wyman (ROLLING STONES) Owned LIVE IN EUROPE 1st Press LP
A mono first pressing of Otis Redding’s 1967 album. From the legendary collection of Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman. Bill Wyman is legendary as a musician, a blues historian, an author and for his world-class collection of Rolling Stones memorabilia. Bill Wyman and his Rolling Stones Archive. Sale at Julien’s Auctions if you haven’t already seen the Wyman documentary. We enthusiastically recommend it. The Rolling Stones were great admirers of Redding and covered a number of his songs including “Pain in My Heart” on their 1965 album The Rolling Stones, Now! They followed this with a cover of “That’s How Strong My Love Is” on their 1965 Out of Our Heads album. They also recorded a version of Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” that was released on their 1966 Got Live If you Want It! Album with added crowd atmosphere to make it sound as though it had been performed live. Redding borrowed from the Stones as well when he had a big hit with “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. A live version of “Satisfaction” is included on this album. Cover: VG++, Disc NM-/EX. With a copy of the original Julien’s Auctions descriptive card for Wyman’s group of Redding’s albums, which included this, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity, signed by Jeff Gold, who has consulted for Bill Wyman. We grade all records visually, cover first, then disc; using the abbreviations M / NM / EX / VG with + and. THE ROLLING STONES – NOT FADE AWAY. Australian 7 mono EP on unboxed green Decca label 1964 (DFEA 7519). Card jacket has flipback tabs, and rear jacket print is in BLUE. Displays some signs of its age, light ring impression and wear to the edges, a little dirty on the back but may clean up OK (see pics) Overall however it’s not creased or split and grades as VG+. Vinyl is decent with only a few very minor scuffs and nicks, despite evidence it was played a bit by the marks on the label surrounding the spindle hole! Visually grades as a high VG+. HAND SIGNED by Bill Wyman in blue ballpoint pen on the front cover, and HAND SIGNED in black marker by Charlie Watts also. Obtained in person and guaranteed 100% authentic. We now provide our COAs in the form of a legally binding statement for your peace of mind. We firmly believe that a first-hand witness to the signing is even greater “proof” than just a handwriting comparison. As experienced collectors know, it’s all about condition. As time passes it’s getting harder and harder to find EXCELLENT quality original pressings – and the value of these examples continues to soar above mediocre copies. We endeavor to bring to you only the most excellent condition articles for your collection. We will ALWAYS note ANY flaws or defects and try to be as honest and accurate as possible in our gradings.
